What should I wear to my newborn session
Tash and her family nailed the brief of what to wear to her newborn shoot. A winning combo here!
The last thing on your mind is what you’re going to wear. You’re still figuring out this brand new little person you’ve made and birthed into the world.
First and foremost, know that simple is more than enough.
Please don’t feel like you need to buy new outfits for every single person in your family. Dress the way you dress. You’ll see a lot of earthy neutral colours throughout my images, but if you’re a bold + bright dresser, go bold, please! Wear a top or dress you feel comfortable in — loose and flowy is always a win for postpartum days. A floaty frock that won’t rub or cut in on any sore bits.
It can be helpful when Mum finds an outfit she loves and feels comfortable in first or if you have a special item of clothing in mind for another family member; that way, you can build the rest of the family's outfits around that piece.
I’m a big fan of texture. Think of timeless linen, wool, lace, soft naturals and a light pattern such as ditsy florals.
Avoid getting a fake tan unless it’s super light. It can throw orange onto your images, and you can stand out as overly tanned compared to your family members. It’s often messy around your hands, and you can get tan rubbing off under your arms/onto white clothing.
Stay away from clothing pieces with bold graphics and large logos. They tend to be distracting as with anything too matchy, such as everyone in jeans and a white top.
